Dogs & Cats

Including other Small Pets, such as Mice, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Reptiles

Overall well being and health in the pet dog and cat is reflected by a healthy shiny coat, and a pet that is active and happy with a good appetite. Ideally, this pet lives out the full spectrum of its lifetime with no disease, no allergies, no reproductive problems and has great longevity, rarely needing to visit the veterinarian.

Whatever happens in your pets life, it is pertinent to remember that your pet is essentially a captive animal, confined by the boundaries of pen, house or yard, and therefore unable to obtain the wild food that its ancestral blueprint would have hunted.

We all know that dogs and cats are carnivores, and can imagine that wild hunting carnivores would have ingested the whole carcass of their prey animal, including contents of the digestive tracts. Since most prey animals are herbivorous, their digestive tracts would have contained partially digested plant materials. Therefore the raw diet of the wild carnivore would have included mainly meat, with some percentage of predigested plant materials.

Ideally these prey animals would not have been raised on farmed soils, and would have been ingesting wild forage with its full diversity of choice, quality plant species, including herbs. Therefore the nutrient density of the wild carnivore diet may have differed considerably from the diet of the modern pet today. The stress for the wild carnivore would have primarily been in obtaining enough nutrition, as it was subjected fully to the variety of seasons and potentially harsh conditions of the wild. However, wherever there was plentiful prey, the quality of nutrition was superb, as there can be no doubt when we observe populations of wild carnivores thriving with no diseases, no allergies or reproductive problems and without any human intervention. The problem is how do we reproduce this in our captive pet’s environment?

Obviously, there are very few pets in the modern world today whose owners can feed them on a diet of freshly killed wild game, raised in pristine, uncultivated environments. Therefore the level of your pet’s nutrition will depend entirely on the quality of food that is chosen by you to feed your pet. The raw materials contained in manufactured pet foods will have been obtained from farmed lands, which now suffer from severe soil degradation. Also various key nutrients, such as vitamins and trace minerals, will have been added during and after the manufacturing process. These additive vitamins and minerals will be synthetic, inorganic and man-made. They may not be highly bio-available to the animal, despite fulfilling the requirements of labeling on the container. In other words, the food may well contain every vitamin and mineral and nutrient that is stated on the label, however, they may not be in a form that is particularly beneficial for uptake and utilisation in the animal.

All manufactured pet foods, whether dry or canned, contain combinations of meat, cereals and vegetables. All manufacturing processes for pet foods involve high degrees of heat and physical handling. For example, all dry pet foods are made by a process called “extrusion”, whereby the raw ingredients are minced together into a very smooth paste by special machines which shear the food particles at very high speed in order to create a smooth paste of equal consistency, not unlike the kitchen food processor. Once turned into a fine paste, the extrusion process then involves cooking at high temperatures into the various shapes for the desired kibble. Finally, the finished product is “enrobed”, or coated with flavours, fats or other synthetic additives, in order to fulfil the requirements of the analysis contained on the bag and to increase palatability to ensure that your pet eats plenty of it. Canned foods are primarily meat based, but must be cooked for the canning process and further heat treated to enable the sealing of the can. The finished canned or bagged food is then transported and stored for varying lengths of time in a lottery of climatic conditions. All of these factors contribute to the reality that processed pet food cannot be depended upon to provide all essential nutrients for all pets.

There have been a lot of marketing dollars invested by large pet food companies in the past few years convincing pet owners that higher priced pet foods are “more complete” than grocery store pet foods. While better quality raw ingredients may have been sourced, the reality is that ALL processed pet foods, irrespective of price, are exactly that –PROCESSED- which means they have been totally adulterated by the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the more highly processed the food, the faster it passes through the digestive system. This is what is meant by the term on the bag “highly digestible”. It means that in actual fact, there is less absorption of minerals and vitamins from these kinds of foods. This is coupled with the fact that all manufacturers source bulk raw ingredients from large producers, which are more likely to be grown on depleted soils, and have inherently low levels of minerals and vitamins. Therefore manufacturers simply add synthetic nutrients to boost the levels. However, these are not getting taken up by the animals whose lives depend on these foods. The increases in chronic degenerative illness such as skin problems, allergies, immune deficient disease etc in people’s pets mirrors the same problems in humans that have mushroomed since the food chain contains more and more processed foods.

Pets, like people, are individuals. As such they have nutritional needs that may vary. Even the highest quality pet foods may not fulfil the unique nutritional requirements of every individual pet. Growing puppies and kittens, breeding animals, hard working and active pets, senior pets and pets with medical conditions all have different nutritional requirements. Supplements can help fulfil these requirements.

Dynavyte Pets is a completely natural and organic liquid supplement that is designed to fill in the gaps of whatever diet is fed. It is highly palatable and easily added to either canned food, dry food or raw meat diets. It can also be given as an oral dose daily if needed. Dynavyte Pets is made by a natural fermentation process using no heat or chemicals and is completely organic and safe. This fermentation process uses microbes to ferment plant materials, such as kelp and molasses, so that they are partially digested and therefore in a form that is both highly palatable and highly bio-available in the gut. This product contains over 60 naturally chelated trace minerals, a huge array of B vitamins, Vitamins A, D and E and an impressive array of amino acids and phytocomplexes. Given on a daily basis it gives your pet the best chance of living a disease free, long and healthy life with very few visits ever needed to the veterinarian.
